Human Factors

Ergonomic Design and Development
Aesthetics and styling can draw new customers to your products and your brand. They play a vital role in supporting your brand’s visual brand language and communicating the value of a product. However, at Brooks Stevens, Inc we know that the final product must be able to deliver on this promise and extend beyond visual quality. Brooks Stevens focuses not only on the outward appearance of a product, but also on how it is to actually use. Ultimately, it is the intuitiveness and ease-of-use for all intended end users that can take a product from good to great.
Having an extensive background in designing for human factors means we take into consideration the ergonomics of size, proportion, configuration, weight and strength. We also extend those considerations into intuitiveness of use, user-interface comprehension, gerontology, universal access, and many other factors that will determine the true user experience for a design. Building upon an understanding of the consumer (synthesized during our Opportunity Research process), we seek to incorporate targeted intuitive design cues and ergonomic configurations. We then confirm the design with Validation Research methods – often utilizing ergonomic prototypes fabricated in our own shop. This ethnographic approach helps us understand the problem and identify the areas in most need of attention; our creativity and experience forges the way to responsible and innovative solutions your customers will appreciate.
Focusing on human factors puts the user at the center; it results in products that give customers the product experience they desire. When Brooks Stevens incorporates intelligence gained from human factors studies & experience with aesthetics targeted to the user, we develop products with better performance. Better performance leads to higher sales, bigger profits and brand loyalty.
